Paroleo

Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 11, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Paroleo ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Paroleo mobile application (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, we may automatically collect the following information:

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and language settings.
  • Usage Data: Anonymous app interaction events (screens visited, features used, session duration) collected via Firebase Analytics and associated with a randomly generated App Instance ID.
  • Crash Reports: Diagnostic data, crash logs, error messages, and performance metrics to help us improve the App's stability. This data is collected via Firebase Crashlytics and may include information about the state of the App at the time of a crash.

2.2 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, or other personal contact information unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., when contacting support).
  • We do not collect location data.
  • We do not collect or store payment information. All purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • We do not collect audio recordings or microphone data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • App Functionality: To save your learning progress, preferences, and settings locally on your device.
  • Stability: To diagnose and fix crashes, errors, and technical issues using crash reports.
  • Improvement: To understand common failure points and improve the App's reliability.

4. Data Storage

Your learning progress, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device using the operating system's standard storage mechanisms. This data is not transmitted to our servers unless explicitly stated otherwise.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services that may collect information:

  • Firebase Analytics (Google): Used to understand aggregate app usage — which screens and features are most used, how long sessions last, and which app versions are running. Collects an anonymous App Instance ID, device type, operating system version, and app version. No personal identifiers are collected. Data is processed by Google in accordance with Firebase's Privacy Policy.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google): Used for crash reporting and diagnostics. Crashlytics automatically collects device information, crash traces, and custom log data to help us identify and fix issues. Data collected by Crashlytics is processed by Google in accordance with Firebase's Privacy Policy and Crashlytics Terms of Service.
  • Google Analytics 4 (this website): Our marketing website uses Google Analytics to measure aggregate, anonymous traffic — page views, referrers, and approximate region. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them via the cookie banner; if you decline, no analytics cookies are stored and no usage data is sent. This applies to the website only and is separate from the in-app Firebase Analytics described above. Data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For distributing the App and processing any in-app purchases. These platforms have their own privacy policies that govern how they handle payment and account data.

6. Sale of Personal Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

8. Your Rights

8.1 European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

  • Right of Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to Erasure: You can request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Right to Restriction: You can request restriction of processing of your data.
  • Right to Data Portability: You can request your data in a portable format.
  • Right to Object: You can object to the processing of your data.

The legal basis for processing your data is legitimate interest (improving App functionality and user experience) and, where applicable, your consent.

8.2 California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • Right to Know: You can request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected.
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
  • Right to Opt-Out: You have the right to opt-out of the sale of your personal information. Note: we do not sell personal information.

8.3 Exercising Your Rights

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address provided below. We will respond to your request within 30 days (or as required by applicable law).

9. Data Retention and Deletion

9.1 Retention

Data stored locally on your device is retained until you delete it (see below). Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained according to Google's retention policies — typically 14 months for Analytics events and 90 days for crash records — and is then automatically deleted.

9.2 How to Delete Your Data

You can delete your Paroleo data in two ways:

Local data (instant, no request needed). All your learning progress, stars, settings, and notification schedule are stored on your device. To delete them immediately:

  • Open Paroleo → Settings → Reset App Data, or
  • Uninstall the App (removes everything stored locally), or
  • Clear the App's data in your device's system settings.

Firebase data (Analytics and Crashlytics). Anonymous diagnostic and analytics data is associated with a randomly generated App Instance ID. To request deletion of this data:

  1. Email us at privacy@paroleo.com with the subject line "Delete my data".
  2. If possible, include your App Instance ID so we can delete the exact records. Without it, we will reset analytics state for any device that contacted us during the request window.
  3. We respond and complete deletion within 30 days (or as required by applicable law).

Crashlytics records are also automatically purged after approximately 90 days regardless of any request.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
